Dominique Ansel’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot, after the Cronut
March 20, 2014
Dominique Ansel is the French pastry chef of New York who became very successful last year with his Cronut.
He will try to do the same with his new creation: the Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot.
The new pastry on the block was launched at the SXSW, one of the biggest music festivals in the US, with more than 2,000 artists playing on 90 sites in the region of Austin, Texas.
However, the sweet and pastry fans were also there, standing in line to get a bite of happiness with this culinary creation.
I hope this pastry chef will come to Chicago during one of its numerous festivals to do the same thing!
What is a Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot ?
First revealed on the chef’s Instagram, it is a chocolate chip cookie shaped as a glass and containing a shot of milk. According to Dominique Ansel, the innovation is in the recipe of the cookie used as a container: a cookie crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, even when it contains milk.
Dominique Ansel as a French pastry chef wanted to play on the fact that in America (on the contrary to France), cookies are dipped into milk.
“I found it really interesting and wanted to find a way to make it playful, elegant, and fun—a way for people to eat and drink at the same time,” he says.
Already a success story considering that all the stars want some!
A simple look at the two pictures posted on the chef’s Facebook is enough to understand the appetite for his creations.
